All good things come in
 brown-paper-wrapped packages

Done in mid-October of 2003, colored with my Wacom tablet via Photoshop. This is, of course, a get-up that Vlad would never wear. Just not his style, the whole tie thing, those pressed pants. So consider it ironic that he's actually giving his Vlad-ish smile, considering how much he must despise the suit.

I must say, this look does emphasize his lack of height. I mean, of course he's short (that hopefully should be obvious in the strip). It's just more pronounced now in this drawing, at least to me. This piece also came out unintentionally stylized -- that is, I wanted it drawn in a particular style, but it came out in another style instead. Go figure. I think it was the hair that did it. Ah well, more practice is needed!

Particularly when it comes to the coloring bit. I still have trouble picturing and coloring a good background (or even ground, for that matter), so mine always look so. . . scrappy. I don't consider this finished. It's a handy reminder for me to work on my backgrounds.
